First Line Technology, LLC, the 2012 National Defense Industrial Association Small Business Success Story Winner, has been awarded a contract for Joint Sensitive Equipment Wipes from the Army Contracting Command – Aberdeen Proving Ground (ACC-APG) Contracting Center, Natick Contracting Division (Natick, MA) in support of the Joint Project Manager for Protection (JMP P) and the Decontamination Family of Systems (DFoS) Program. First Line was one of several awardees under Request for Proposal (RFP) W911QY-12-R-0006 for the JSEW. The JSEWs from First Line contain FiberTect, an activated carbon wipe for dry decontamination. According to the Department of the Army, Army Contracting Command, “The intent of this acquisition effort is to acquire and test promising commercial items against specific evaluation criteria with the ultimate intent to procure and field a JSEW that will provide immediate/operational decontamination capabilities for sensitive equipment, such as weapons system optics and electronic equipment, and non-sensitive equipment, such as vehicles, hard shelters, material handling equipment and individual equipment in hostile and non-hostile environments that have been exposed to chemical agents/contamination without adversely impacting the operational life or performance of the target assets.” Each JSEW contains FiberTect wipes and is to be tested by the Department of the Army. FiberTect is a three layer, inert, flexible, drapable, nonwoven composite substrate for absorbing and adsorbing chemical warfare agents (CWAs), toxic industrial materials (TICs), and small particulates like radiological and biological particles. FiberTect is self-contained and packaged for easy use, storage and transport. “Dry decon is a better way to decontaminate sensitive equipment than conventional methods,” said First Line Technology President Amit Kapoor. “The First Line Technology JSEW uses the revolutionary FiberTect decontamination wipe in hopes of becoming the next great tool of the modern war fighter, but FiberTect is already a proven commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) decon tool currently in use by many of our federal customers. We here at First Line are honored to have been selected to create this JSEW product, using FiberTect, for the Department of the Army and provide a cost-effective solution that supports the warfighter.” First Line Technology, LLC supplies Out of the Box Solutions to first responders and the military. Since 2003, First Line has established itself as a leader in new product development and distribution with innovative, yet simple, solutions. First Line prides itself in creating high-quality products that are comfortable, effective and safe for use in All-Hazards response.
